Next up is the Not Quite Right group, this is for people who tried something different but didn’t quite hit the mark.
Willem Dafoe
One of the most disappointing outfits of the evening. Willem is an incredibly talented actor and this attire is not up to the standards of the Oscars. A dark brown dinner suit could work, potentially, done in a certain way but this is atrocious. The fit is poor, the lapels are hideous, the shirt is black and he’s wearing what looks like a navy tie? If anyone has a way to contact him, please give him my details so I can help him out!
The Rock
I know The Rock likes to experiment with outfits but this one is particularly dreadful. For someone of his body shape, he would greatly benefit from getting formal garments that fit him. I don’t even comment on the fabric choice, or colour, or the lack of bow tie or anything else. Get the man a bespoke tailor !
Matthew McConaughey
Such a cool actor wearing such a poor outfit. The colour doesn’t work on him, neither do these contrast lapels, or that waistcoat, or that bow tie, or these brown shoes. The jacket is also an incredibly poor fit (why is that left sleeve about 3 inches longer than the right?). I wonder what kind of catastrophe happened here, this can’t possibly be a thought out choice of outfit.
John Krasinski & Shameik Moore
The full white look, what an odd choice. When it comes to white, you really want to wear a contrasting jacket or pair of trousers. The full white lacks of contrast way too much, even with a black bow tie. Wear black trousers and an off white jacket, or wear a white pair of trousers and a dark navy dinner jacket, or something a bit more colourful for a full Riviera effect, in the right setting.
Dwayne Wade
The white jacket with contrast black lapels and buttons. I personally find the high contrast too strong, making the whole outfit a bit costumey. This one really is a shame considering the great fit, lapel shape and the rest of the outfit.
Christian Friedel
A burgundy two piece, which could work in theory, but the shirt choice and the lack of bow tie makes it too casual. Once again, it’s a shame considering the decent fit and interesting design (although not traditional).
