Another group to review this week is the Velvet Jacket Crew. One of my favourite fabrics for black tie -when done properly, velvet is the go-to cloth for parties and celebrations. Its lustre under different lighting makes it incredibly rich and luxurious.
Matt Bomer
This handsome devil is wearing a subtle dark purple velvet dinner jacket. Impeccably styled from head to toe with patent leather shoes, black dinner trousers, fine pleat dinner shirt with black studs, a self tie bow tie and a white pocket square. There’s really not more to say about this outfit, it is simply perfect for the evening! We want more!
Dominic Sessa
Styled by the same stylist as above, Dominic is wearing a stunning double breasted black velvet jacket, black dinner trousers, a white dinner shirt with studs, a self tie bow tie and patent leather boots. I personally would have liked to see a slightly wider pair of trousers to balance his tall and slender silhouette although this is more of a personal preference. Outstanding outfit!
Mario Lopez
Simple and efficient, Mario wears a black velvet single breasted jacket with black dinner trousers, a crisp white shirt and black patent shoes. The only two things lacking in my opinion are a white pocket square and a bow tie that would be slightly larger for his frame and to balance the velvet jacket. Great job!
Jack Quaid
Another dark purple velvet jacket, this time double breasted. After having looked at the picture several times, I’ve come to the conclusion that despite the styling being good, the fit of the garment is not quite flattering. Jack is tall and slender and would benefit from a longer and roomier jacket as well as a wider pair of trousers. Quite similar to Dominic but this stands out much more on Jack. I appreciate the choice of a slightly bigger bow tie.
