My second most hated group: The Men in Black.
The whole point of traditional black tie is to create high contrast between your suit, shirt and bow tie. Why would you decide to wear a black shirt and completely loose the key accessory of your outfit and the very point of the dress code?
Anyway, I will never have a clear answer for you. I assume they think it’s edgy, or sexy or manly but in reality, it just doesn’t work.
Robert Downey Jr
I’m actually getting angry looking at his pictures of the night. What a cool outfit, from head to toe: a well fitting jacket, a generously cut pair of trousers, stunning glasses, an usual bow tie, I can’t quite say if it’s a bolo tie or not. Why oh why ruin it all by wearing a black shirt. Not even totally buttoned. Change that shirt for a crisp white shirt and the outfit will be one of the best of the night, no doubt.
Sam Rockwell
Another traditional outdoor ruined by a black shirt. I think he’s wearing a bow tie, although I can’t confirm. He’s got decided to wear a white pocket square though, I wonder why. I’m confused. Can not comment more.
Sean Lennon
Being the son of one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century does not give you the right to wear a black shirt with evening wear. Or a pre-tied bow tie. The more I write about people wearing black shirts, the more frustrated I get 😣
Ludwig Goransson
How disappointing. Such a cool dinner suit, even if the design is not entirely traditional, I find the cut and the lapels very flattering. A white shirt and a suitable bow tie would have elevated it to great heights.
Rant over about the Men In Black. Please do not join them!
